Other Android-powered smartphones existed before the Droid launched in 2009, but this was the first one in style sufficient to push Android into the highlight. Verizon is claimed to have poured $100 million into marketing the device. It seemingly paid off—although neither corporations disclosed gross sales figures, analysts estimated that between seven hundred,000 and 800,000 Droids were offered in roughly one month following its launch.
