A new designer-led trade program takes the guesswork out of rug specification.

Miss Amara, a leading Australian online rug specialist, has launched a new designer-led trade program called Miss Amara Trade. Developed by designers, for designers, this program takes the guesswork out of rug specification, providing the expertise and tools needed to work through the complexities of selecting the perfect rug for any space. Miss Amara Trade is the latest innovation from the brand, which was co-founded in 2014 by Aaron Weller and Alexandra Weller, a trained architect whose background significantly influences the brand’s creative direction.

Designers Tackle Rug Specification Challenges

Rugs are powerful interior design elements that can transform a space, texturally activating the senses and setting the tone. However, their high-impact potential makes selecting the right one a critical decision. Miss Amara Trade addresses this challenge by offering designers access to a team of in-house design and styling experts. Each designer is paired with a dedicated contact who collaborates throughout the entire process, from conceptualization to installation. This personalized approach not only streamlines decision-making but also reduces risk by ensuring that every detail is considered.

Virtual Rug Visualiser and Expert Guidance

At the heart of the program is the Virtual Rug Visualiser, an innovative online tool that allows designers to upload photos of a space and experiment with different rug sizes, colors, patterns, and placements. This feature eliminates guesswork and ensures the chosen rug complements the overall design. As Weller explains, “When we created Miss Amara, we wanted to remove the uncertainty that surrounded buying rugs online.” She adds, “As we grew, we realised designers were facing many of those same challenges when specifying rugs for clients. Miss Amara Trade is our response to that.”

Beyond aesthetics, Miss Amara Trade considers practical aspects such as durability, slip-resistance, pile height, and cleaning requirements. The team’s expertise spans residential, multi-residential, commercial, and hospitality settings, ensuring that designers receive guidance tailored to their specific needs. This holistic approach allows designers to specify rugs with confidence, balancing both visual appeal and functionality.

Holistic Design Approach and Sustainability

Miss Amara’s design philosophy emphasizes the holistic nature of good design, considering how people interact with a space and the performance of materials in everyday life. “Our collections are always designed with the finished space in mind,” Weller says. “We think about how people move through a room, how materials perform in everyday life, how colour influences atmosphere and how a rug can bring balance to a space without competing with it,” Weller highlights.

Sustainability is a core focus for Miss Amara. The brand incorporates recycled fibers and PET derived from plastic bottles into their rug collections, reducing environmental impact. Additionally, unused samples are donated to charities like ReLove, which helps furnish the homes of families experiencing domestic violence or crisis. This commitment to sustainability aligns with the brand’s belief that everyone should have access to great design.

Global Reach and Recognition

Miss Amara has established a strong presence across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Hong Kong, maintaining an exceptional online-only retail experience. The brand’s innovative approach has earned it significant recognition, including the Australian Retail Innovator title for Best Customer Experience in 2025. Miss Amara has also been listed at thirty-nine on the Australian Financial Review’s AFR Fast 100 and sixty-six for the Financial Times Asia-Pacific High-Growth Companies.
