Tiffany & Co. is expanding its Breakfast at Tiffany’s-inspired dining concept to the West Coast with the opening of Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. This marks the first California location for the café, which also operates within Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship, The Landmark, in New York City. The new café accompanies a Tiffany & Co. boutique, blending the brand’s iconic elements with California’s culinary spirit.

A West Coast Take on Tiffany Blue

Tiffany Blue dominates the space, yet the design doesn’t merely coat the restaurant in that iconic shade. Instead, it alternates between rich aqua finishes and calmer sections of light wood, polished metal, and muted blue upholstery. Dining chairs feature a familiar pattern, with the interlocking T&C monogram traced along their backs.

A dramatic overhead element takes center stage. Hundreds of Tiffany Blue boxes seem to cascade across the ceiling in a dense hanging installation, turning one of the brand’s most recognizable objects into a suspended artwork. Underneath, the bar offers a contrasting anchor, bordered by bold veined blue-green stone and a terrazzo floor scattered with striking motifs.

Art contributes additional hues throughout the dining area, while blue glass vases filled with hydrangeas bring the color palette down to the tables. The overall impression is unmistakably Tiffany, but varied materials, patterns, and tones prevent the signature blue from overwhelming the design.

The menu carries Blue Box Café staples including Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Tea at Tiffany’s, while incorporating California ingredients such as organic flour from Petaluma County, apricots from the San Joaquin Valley, and dairy from Sonoma.

“The Blue Box Café celebrates the pleasure of coming together over beautiful food in a refined setting,” Boulud says.

Together, the new boutique and café extend Tiffany’s retail experience beyond jewelry and into hospitality. In Costa Mesa, that means taking some of the house’s most recognizable signatures, the blue box, the color, the monogram, and the mythology of breakfast at Tiffany’s, and giving visitors a space where they can quite literally sit among them.
