Key trends include wider vanities, built-in storage solutions, and durable materials that stand the test of time. Furthermore, nearly two-fifths of respondents indicated they’d prioritize custom millwork to raise their space’s aesthetic appeal.
Wider Vanities and Built-In Styles
Homeowners increasingly seek expanded counter space, with 21 percent opting for vanities exceeding 72 inches in length. This shift reflects a desire for greater functionality during morning routines. Built-in vanities dominate, with 62 percent of renovators favoring this style over freestanding options. The move toward seamless integration allows for cleaner, more organized bathroom layouts.
Sink Preferences and Material Choices
Double undermount sinks remain the top choice, with 68 percent of respondents selecting this style. This preference stems from couples’ desire to avoid sharing a single basin during morning routines. Drop-in sinks follow at 16 percent, while integrated basins account for 11 percent, vessels for 4 percent, and troughs for 2 percent, completing the full range of sink preferences.
Durability is a key concern, with 75 percent of renovators aiming for vanities that last a lifetime. Solid wood, particularly maple and white oak, is preferred over alternatives like plywood or particleboard. These materials offer both strength and aesthetic appeal.
Design Details and Finishing Touches
Flat-panel doors and simple knobs are on the rise, but Shaker doors maintain strong appeal, chosen by 46 percent of respondents. Minimal slabs are a close second. This attention to detail extends to millwork, with 38 percent of respondents willing to splurge on custom millwork to raise their vanity’s aesthetic and functionality. Bar pulls are preferred over knobs, with 62 percent selecting this option for their ease of use and timeless look.
